Santa’s Poem
Santa’s Tear
They came to me on a special night,
battered and torn from a vicious fight,
men, women, and officers too.
Believers all, in the red, white and blue,
they had spent their past in a circle of fear,
and inside Santa’s eye there developed a tear.
Not a tear drop Santa wanted to hide
but one restrained for the solider’s pride.
For they came not to me in fear or in fright,
no, for sure, not on this special night
their journey to Santa was one of joy,
and remembrance of family and the manger boy.
So out of hospital beds they all came.
Some limping, some rolling
and all dealing with pain.
I saw smiles on their faces as they got near,
and held tighter and tighter to that tiny tear;
for my truest heart feelings really did lay
with the soldiers courage and love of the great u.s.a.
