During the first workshop of the two-part series we focused on two of the four core personal competence skills as defined by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves in “Emotional Intelligence 2.0” which are

  1. Self-Awareness
  2. Self-Management

The Personal Competence factor of Self-Awareness refers to a person’s ability to recognize and emotion.  With just over one-third of people being able to correctly identify an emotion, two-thirds of us are held hostage to emotions we do not understand, and which influence and cause our outward behavior.

As defined by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves, Self-Management is the ability to manage your emotional reactions to situations and people.  It is the ability to manage impulses and quick responses.


Marek Rudak

Marek Rudak is an ICF credentialed coach on a mission to employees earn their dream promotions by growing their leadership skills.

He was born in communist Poland and lost his dad at a young age. When his mom remarried, at age fourteen, Marek moved to the United States.

Marek graduated in the top 10% of his class at West Point and became a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Upon separating from the Army, Marek joined ExxonMobil, where he worked on multi-billion-dollar projects all over the world for ten years.

A tough divorce led Marek to a lot of soul searching and multiple life changes. After meeting the love of his life, Marek decided to quit his job and commit himself to coaching full-time.

Currently, Marek provides on-demand Executive coaching as a benefit to C-Suite Leaders and their teams nationally and internationally for companies like Zillow Group, Autodesk, Pinterest, and Nasdaq.
