HOUSTON, TX, – February 21, 2020 – Impact a Hero (IAH), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting veterans, is thrilled to announce the addition of a new Operations Manager, Robbin Seymour, to the IAH team, effective February 4, 2020.

“Adding Robbin to the team was an easy decision,” said Executive Director, Mike Nasche. “She will be managing the day to day operations of the organization as well as providing support for our programs and events.”

Prior to joining Impact A Hero, Robbin had a career in the Oil & Gas industry where she served in accounting and office management. Fitness and health are important to her and she also has a certification in personal training with the National Academy of Sports Medicine where she enjoys instructing health, wellness and fitness. Robbin is a proud patriot, with several ties to the military through her family including her friend and ex-husband as well as her oldest son who is currently active duty stationed in Hawaii.

“I never thought of my role as a military-wife as being a sacrifice. I was honored to support my husband’s career and choice to serve our country,” said Robbin. “There was a sense of community that I’ll never forget, and honestly miss it very much. That is why I am thrilled to now work for an organization where I can find that fulfillment of reaching out to our veterans and their families once again.”

NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER JOINS IMPACT A HERO

HOUSTON, TX, – January 28, 2020 – Impact a Hero (IAH), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting veterans, is excited to announce that Trena Hogge has been hired as the new Manager of Business Development effective February 1, 2020.

“We are excited to be adding Trena to the team as the Business Development Manager,” Said Mike Nasche, Executive Director. “Her background and experience will be valuable assets for Impact A Hero as she helps us grow the organization.”

Prior to joining Impact A Hero as the Business Development Manager, Trena Hogge supported the organization through volunteering and participation in past events. Trena has an extensive background in sales, marketing, and business development roles with over 15 years of experience in the private sector. After spending the last 11 years of her career in sales and sales management within the global offshore drilling markets, her passion for her community and helping others inspired her to make a shift to the nonprofit world. Trena has a long family history of military veterans and served herself in the US Army Reserves. Additionally, Trena serves on the Board of Directors for Timbergrove Sports Association as the Director of Softball Operations, and as a marketing co-chair for the nonprofit group K9 Officers, Inc.

“Military service can mean so many different things to those of us who have served. Though I am a veteran who did not experience the same traumatic situations that so many of my brothers and sisters in arms did, I certainly understand the impacts of trauma through other life experiences. I am a firm believer in the importance of mental health and growth for individuals. Having the opportunity to do what I love and apply that professional experience to ensuring that even more veterans have access to resources supporting their post service growth, means a lot to me.”

Michael Acuff is currently the Senior Vice President, Commercial, for Pacific Drilling and has been in the Oil and Gas industry for over 20 years.  He has previously served as a private equity Advisory Board Member for Global Subsea Solutions. Michael is a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Civil Engineering and received his MBA from Rice University.  He spent four years on active duty as an Army Air Defense Artillery Officer.  Michael resides in The Woodlands with his wife Charlotte and their sons Abb and Owen.

“Impact a Hero is a fantastic organization that I have supported over the years.  The support they provide for our veterans and their families who have served and sacrificed so much is tremendous.  I am honored to be able to serve on the Board and help give back to our country’s heroes.”

Big Changes Ahead for th

Looking back, we are proud to say we ended 2019 strong! Program wise, we held six Financial Fitness courses across the Greater Houston Area, brought 80+ veterans and their Families to two Operation Impact Retreats, held numerous Veteran’s Voice Toastmasters meetings and provided countless hours of mentorship and coaching.

We also marked our 15^th anniversary at the annual Hall of Fame Gala and 10k/5k – Run, walk and Wheel. Our annual motorcycle ride, Hero’s Highway, and our annual golf tournament, Links and Drinks, were also held. We debuted a new bicycle ride, The Freedom Ride, which we are excited to have as another annual event.

A new year also brings about changes. Impact A Hero is starting 2020 in a new location. In order to make ourselves more available and connected to the veterans in the community, we are now officing out of Combined Arms at 2929 McKinney St. in East Downtown Houston. With this move, we know we will have an even greater impact on veterans and their families.

I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that two wonderful staff members will not be moving with us in to 2020. All of the events, programs and accomplishments noted above were because of the hard work and dedication of the team here at Impact A Hero. After 5 years of devotion to the organization, our Director of Marketing and Communications, Laurel Goodroe, has made the hard decision to resign. Due to the needs of his family, Ryan Avila, our Director of Operations for the last two years, has accepted a new position and is also leaving the organization. We are grateful for their dedication over the years and sad to see them go but hope you will join us in wishing them the best in their new endeavors.

Moving into 2020 we will continue to host all our annual events and provide impactful Post-Traumatic Growth programing for veterans and their families. This new year, and new decade will be amazing, and we can’t wait to see how things progress!

Ms. Rawson, Managing Director of a privately held investment firm based in Houston, TX, since 2016, directs and controls the Company’s operations and provides strategic guidance and direction to the Board of Directors. Previously, Ms. Rawson worked for Insperity (NYSE: NSP) for seven years during which time she spearheaded the creation, and development, of their National Accounts program. Prior to joining Insperity in 2009, Ms. Rawson served our country in several capacities at The White House from 2003 to January 2009, most recently as Deputy Associate Director with The White House Homeland Security Council. Ms. Rawson earned an Executive MBA at the University of Houston’s C.T. Bauer College of Business in 2011 and earned a BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University in 2002.

“While working in the Office of the First Lady, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. It was during those visits to Walter Reed where I witnessed first-hand that not only did the injured service members need support, their family and caregivers also needed support.  Impact a Hero’s holistic approach in support of our veterans, their families, and caregivers is what motivated me to begin volunteering with Impact a Hero in 2012. It gives me great honor to now serve this Organization and our Heroes at the Board level,” said Rawson.

Impact a Hero Announces KBR’s 5k Title Sponsorship and Commitment to the Cause

KBR joins the Impact A Hero 5K in Bettering the Lives of Veterans and Their Families

March 7, 2018 – (Houston, Texas) – KBR Has committed a title sponsorship for the 14th annual Impact a Hero 5K event. The sponsorship was announced Friday, March 1st by Laurel Goodroe, the Director of Marketing and Communications at Impact a Hero.

“KBR is no stranger to assisting our community,” says Goodroe. “Through their veteran job training program, their financial support of our initiatives, and the volunteer assistance with our organization, it brings us great joy to see them take a large part in our event this year.”

The Impact a Hero 5K + Kids K presented by KBR will take place on Saturday morning, May 5th, 2018.  The race will take place at the Skeeters Constellation Field, in Sugar Land Texas. Registration is available online at www.impactahero5k.com.

The funds raised will support the mission and programs of Impact a Hero, who provides support to our wounded Heroes and their families. The race event is also one of their largest fundraising events of the year.

HOUSTON, TX, – February 1, 2018 – Impact a Hero (IAH), a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting wounded and disabled combat veterans to live exceptional and purposeful lives, has hired Ryan Avila to fill the newly created Director of Operations position.

“Ryan is an outstanding Army Officer with impressive civilian work experience in project management; these qualities, along with his passion for empowering veterans and serving make him an obvious fit for this new role,” said IAH Executive Director Mike Nasche. “Impact a Hero is growing fast, we’re adding new programs, and striving to make an even bigger impact in our community, we need incredible people on our team to make that happen and Major Avila is the right person for the job.”

Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX where he was commissioned into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. Avila Deployed with the 3^rd Infantry Division to Baghdad in January of 2005. Ryan transitioned to the Army Reserves as a Captain in July of 2006. Ryan was promoted to the rank of Major in October 2012 and currently serves as a Brigade Observer Coach Trainer and Operations Officer for Alpha Branch, 2^nd Brigade 75^th Training Division. Ryan’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with bronze OLC and several other awards.

Before joining Impact A Hero, Ryan worked with Byrne Construction beginning in 2010. In his seven plus years with Byrne, Ryan worked as a project manager where he managed over 30 million dollars in new commercial construction and renovation projects.

“I am honored and humbled to join the Impact a Hero team as their Director of Operations,” says Avila. “It is truly a privilege to join this amazing organization that has had such an incredibly positive impact on the men and women who have served our country. I look forward to the opportunity to further the cause of post traumatic growth and I am grateful that we live in a nation and community that is so supportive of its veterans.

HOUSTON, TX, – January 03, 2018 – Impact a Hero (IAH), a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting severely wounded combat veterans to live exceptional and purposeful lives, has announced the election of a new Chairman and two new members to its Board of Directors effective January 1, 2018. Current board member Doug Hall has been elected as the new Chairman and Bruce Colborne and Scott Livingston have been elected as new board members.

“I am very excited to have been elected to Chair the Impact a Hero Board,” says Doug Hall. “Our organization has done, and will continue to do, great things for the veterans’ community. 2017 was a tough year for many with Hurricane Harvey and the financial challenges it has brought our community. Impact a Hero will continue to shape its mission accordingly and we will be better for it. New IAH Board Members Bruce Colborne and Scott Livingston will provide added leadership that will benefit Impact A Hero.”

Bruce Colborne is currently the Vice President of Business Development at Texas AirSystems in Houston.  He managed the opening of a Houston office for Texas AirSystems in 2010, which has since grown to employ more than 80 employees.  Bruce graduated from University of Missouri, Rolla as a Civil Engineer, and holds a Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering.  Bruce and his wife Janet live in Sugar Land, TX and have two daughters and one granddaughter.

“It’s truly an honor to be selected to serve on the Impact a Hero Board of Directors. My appreciation for our veterans’ service and sacrifice continues to grow with each person I meet and each story I hear,” says Bruce.  “I have made it my personal mission to connect wounded (or combat) veterans and their families to the people searching for a way to get involved and give back to our country’s heroes.”

Scott Livingston currently serves as Senior Vice President, Global Operations, for NOV Rig Systems. His responsibilities encompass all of Rig Systems’ onshore and offshore production, supply chain, and engineering organizations and capabilities worldwide along with the well-servicing business. Prior to joining NOV, Scott served 8 years in the US Air Force involved in maintenance, logistics, and program management for new aircraft weapons systems before moving into the civilian sector. Scott graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and obtained a Masters of Logistics Management from Georgia College while in the military.

“I’m extremely honored to join the board of Impact a Hero and have the opportunity to work with a great group of professionals in serving our wounded combat veterans,” says Scott.  “I’m deeply impassioned with the mission to provide assistance and resources towards helping these courageous men and women lead purposeful lives, despite their previous challenging circumstances.  The need for positive impacting networks and resources for our veterans is great and I’m truly grateful to be able to join such a dynamic group at Impact a Hero to address these opportunities.”
